Help!
Well, I seem to de really well at practice, but suffer up to a 100 point drop at a contest. Any advice on getting over this phenomenon?

Re: Help!
lol, just kidding. First thing is, don't worry yourself over it. Go in with a "I've got this mentality". Do this and you'll be just like me.
But really, it does help to be a bit nervous. It gives you that adrenaline which i lack, because im so used to contests.

Re: Help!
Yeah, it should just be nerves, so if you attempt to calm down a bit before the tests, you might do better. Alternately, you might just need to find harder tests with which to practice., as it could possibly be a disparity between difficulties.
Furthermore, don't stress yourself out after the tests either.

Re: Help!
I know this is a bit of a gravedig, but I just wanted to mention something physiological. A small amount of worry/excitement trips a trickle of adrenaline, which diverts energy from immune and digestive functions to nervous and muscular activity. Too much anxiety releases a flood of adrenaline, which actually diverts energy from the cerebral cortex (logic) to the medulla and cerebellum (essential survival functions), and the muscles.
Essentially, excessive worry makes you dumber. Hooray!
Try yoga or exercise to help you relax in general.

Cursing doesn't really help that much.

Re: Help!
Lol, I came into district with an "I got this" mentality and failed pretty badly...
I thought I had broken at least 250, so the 184 came as a really bad surprise.
The team score was an even worse surprise =(

Re: Help!
You obviously didn't have a very good "I got this" mentality.
